Hello, Corey here. There is a quote I love that sums up, in my opinion, a perfect reminder of how to search for "Truth".
Gurudeva explains that we learn with our hearts, not in books. When speaking on the subject, he states; "They know that Shiva is found in the heart, not in books. They seek Him there."
Who is Shiva? The name represents
God, Lord Shiva in this quote.
Who is Gurudeva? He is just one of many Teachers I have come across on my journey through spirituallity. He is also known as
'Satguru Sivaya Subramuniyaswami'.
Gurudeva has published many books and created a school, so he is not against reading books obviously, I believe these are used more for guides than to be used as a dogma.
He is a Hindu and he does follow a certain sect of the religion, yet the quote I placed above, explains that, we can allow ourselves to look within, while absorbing what we learn from outside ourselves.
If we stay too attached to books, I feel we stop ourselves from growing. There are some books I have had for almost twenty years, and I just keep rereading them when I feel the desire.
:)
